I have two axolotls (an albino and a wild type) and just today, as I was watching them swim I noticed that, while they both have four toes on their front feet, my albino has four toes on both back feet and my wild type has five. I find it a little odd that I just now noticed it, but it made me wonder...Which one has the right number of toes and which one is the oddball? (though I'm tempted to think it's maybe the albino because on one front foot two of her toes are fused together) What do you guys think? How many toes do your guys have? Does anyone else have any weirdos out there?

How many toes are they supposed to have?

4 on each front foot and 5 on each back is what all of mine have. sometimes when they lose a foot and it regrows it might come back missing a toe or have some extras. I think a post a while back had someone whose axolotl grew an extra foot.

Thorninmyside:Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation+1
