hey guys, im new to the sight, but im an axolotl owner, iv got one beautiful wild type, and a white albino and a gold albino. my wild type has been with me for about a month, and the two albinos came in yesterday.:D im always looking for more info on the little guy, my current problem is my wild type is 4.5-5" while the albinos are about 1.5-2". I want them to be tank mates, hopefully they will grow fast.

Welcome to Caudata.org. I learn new stuff here every day as do many people. I would keep your axies separate until they are about 1-1.5 inches in length to each other. The younger ones will grow a little faster than your older one for a while. Or another (possibly better) option would be to get a tank divider for them.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
