Hello everyone. I'm new around here. My names Sam and I'm from Western New York area of the us. Little bit about myself. I love the outdoors anything to do with hiking, camping, or atv riding. Hobby wise I've kept tropical fish for years. I have 4 tanks right now. My favorites are Cory cats and red cherry shrimp. I just recently acquired 3 axolotls. I have 2 melonoids and a leucestic. I love them I think they are so entertaining. After doing research for months from this site and Getting my axolotls I figure it's time to join the forums.

Welcome to the forums, I'm also in western NY. Do you know about the Western New York Herpetological Society? It's hard to tell from their website because it doesn't seem to be updated regularly but I believe the group is still active if you're looking for even more people who share your interests.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
