:happy:Hello there all.

I am the proud owner of three beautiful axolotl I have no idea if they are boys or girls. Their names are Rose Axle and Slash. When they came home two weeks ago they were only about 3inches long, now they are close to 5inches and they are little piglets.
I have a dish underwater in their house where I feed them and they all nosh around in it like they are sitting at the dining room table.:D

They really love blood worms and I feed meal worms also along with shrimp pellets.
I am looking forward to purchasing their new home which will be a 6ft tank !! woo hoo it will be the talk of all my friends, who think I'm nuts!! I will post some photos when I figure out how this site works and I have a few good shots to share.

Jackie.

Hello and welcome to the forum! My name is Seth

It is best not to feed bloodworms as a staple diet, I would try earthworms. Axolotls, and all salamander/newts love them too! If they are too big to feed whole then you can just chop them up.
6ft! that's huge! very nice!

Welcome to the family :p -Seth

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
