Hey everyone, I'm Jonathan from the Quad Cities, IL! I'm a children's pastor and aquarium enthusiast. Our Vacation Bible School this year is themed to "Weird Animals" and day 1 introduces all the kids to the axolotl. As I dug deeper about these awesome animals, I started to get hooked. It wasn't until I actually saw one at a local pet store that I decided I've got to have one (or five!) So that's what brings me here, I want all the knowledge I can get before adding axies to the family!

Welcome to the forum!

I got hooked......well, I better not get into that story ;)

There is a lot of knowledge one here, so you'll learn fast :D -Seth

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
