Hi everyone!
My name is Luisa and I'm from Auckland, New Zealand.
I'm a primary school teacher and I currently teach Year 4, so my students are 8 and 9 years old.
We have recently acquired an axolotl, Axel, as a classroom pet. I made it into a whole inquiry process. The children had to research and find out everything we needed to know, before I went out and purchased our Axolotl.
To be honest, I've become quite attached to the little guy!
Axel is a Leucistic axolotl, and we've had him for 3 weeks now. His pink gills have gotten pinker as time has gone on.
He's very active and the kids love him! At least, I think he's a boy. The pet shop was a bit useless, and couldn't tell me how old he was or if he was a boy or girl! Axel is approximately 12cm long.
I'm looking forward to chatting to everyone and learning as much as I can about Axolotl, so that Axel can have a long and happy life!
