My golden albino laid over 200 eggs and all but three are clearly wildtypes. Two of the three leucistic died. Father is either leucistic or wildtype, my guess is wildtype based on the babies. Even so, isn't it weird that they would ALL be wildtype except three? Anyone else have a similar situation?

Yes it's unusual, but I'd say they are actually pale wildtypes rather than leucistic with that number.

It is possible that the leucistic is the father, the best way to ensure parentage is to keep only keep one male with a female.

I had a melanoid dad and wild type mom and got 2wild type, 2melanoid and 15golden albino :p of course.

True, the remaining white baby could just be a pale wildtype, it does have dark on its tail. Hopefully it makes it to a juvie so I can tell.

My Penny's second clutch was all golden, there were about 120. All survived.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
