I will be getting some Eastern Red Spotted Newts from a friend and they will be aquatic and was wondering what foods are a good choice for them. My friend I am getting them from is not/does not know how to take good care of them so I am asking the community.

I've fed mine pieces of earthworm cut small, white worms, and occasionally aquatic insects I've collected in the wild. Earthworms are the most highly recommended.

Earthworms are a good staple, they are nutritious enough to be fed day in day out. They will also enjoy live Blackworms, Daphnia and live or defrosted Bloodworms and other aquatic live food.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
