Hello! As the title suggests I am from East Nebraska, I've always been eager to learn about anything and everything and during some research on toxins fell in love with all Taricha. Of course one thing leads to another and now I cant satisfy my desire for more information on the special teams division of vertebrates, the glorious amphibians, particularly caudates. I have kept 3 eastern newts in 2012 and have also kept a Woodhouse's toad and currently am housing a Western Stripe Chorus frog while preparing my next foray into caudates. I look forward to soaking up all the info I can and hopefully contributing something worth reading once in a while!
Happy Herping!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
