Lol, title wise I just had too.
Hey fellow caudata posters and lurkers! I am silver from Canada!
I am so exited to have finally settled on joining this forum. I've been lurking and researching for several weeks and am happy to be a part of this community. As of right now, I have no salamanders or newts, but have been doing extensive research into owning an axolotl.
It's really awesome to see they have their own section for people to talk in and that the information is readily available. It's also been great to see such a friendly atmospere.

I have owned small fire newts in the past and always found them to be quite fascinating. So I am exited to try out a planted aquarium for my axilotl. Soon as I find a breeder.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
