I was wondering how much to feed my new little Axolotl ?he /she is about 5cm long ,i have been feeding him Blood worms twice a day is that enough ? ,he has a back leg missing but it has started to grow back .he seems healthy and happy ,i have never had such a young one before ..i worry like a new mother :)
thanks Gail

5cms is still pretty small (lol I had to get out my ruler to figure out how much that was - darned Americans using inches. Why can't we be like the rest of the world)

So that should be fine. Once its mouth is big enough, you can start it on chopped up earthworms, but for now what you're feeding it sounds just fine.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
