hello everyone my name is Dustin I'm from Belleville Ontario Canada, I have been keeping and raising amphibians and reptiles since 1985 I was about 3 first time I came home with a toad, currently Im raising 4 Axolotls 2 wild type 1 golden and one melonoid adorable little creatures they seem to love going to the top fillilng their lung and floating down as slow as possible, I,m also trying to breed fire bellied toads my male keeps trying he calls for an hour or so when the lights go out so far my female hasn't been intressed but hoping that's about to change after eating a few wax worms shes started to gain a few grams on the hips :) only frog ive ever had eat from a dish ive had lots of Anaxyrus americanus Toads eat from dishes but never had a frog was really neat

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
