Just wanted to stop in here and say hi.

I have read a lot of threads here in the past and the advice is always spot on and has helped me avoid disasters. A few quick facts about me:

1. I am a graphic designer by trade, but am currently setting up an aquarium consulting/setup/maintenance business.
2. I keep salt/fresh/brackish fish as well as other critters such as geckos and inverts.
3. Just getting back into amphibians after having to reduce my pet number to nearly 0 while in college.
4. Being an art major, I have returned to aquariums/paludariums with a major passion for tank design and scaping.
5. Obsessively DIY... Just love to make one-of-a-kind stuff instead of subscribing to whatever new products the big companies mass-produce.
6. Also obsessed with biotopic tanks and planted enclosures. Neon gravel and ceramic skulls are not in my creative pallet.

That's a quick overview I suppose. I'll probably posting a lot as I'm working on a series of new tanks dedicated to a specific biotope. Talk to you soon!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
