Hi Caudata.org! Thanks for having me
I'm a really geeky dog person at heart & about to start a foundation degree in animal behaviour in the hopes of working with them one day. My younger brother's an exotics enthusiast, and it's with his help really that I've been preparing for my first ever amphib. - an axolotl :D I've always really really admired them (despite normally being more taken with furry four-leggeds)
so I've joined to double check I have everything set-up right, & also to chat with other caudata and etc. lovers. I can already see that there's a huge deposit of information here for which I'm really grateful I can access totally for free

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
