Hello everyone,
I haven't posted in such a long time! I'm starting to think that my dear little Saskia isn't the little girl I was hoping to have. Saskia is 8 inches long and around 8 months old. I know it still might be a little early to tell but just wanted some opinions.

Oh great. Now I'm stuck with a male with a female name. My other axie is a month younger and doesn't have any male looking parts YET. I really hope I end up with two males now since I don't want babies!

Or you could just give them unisex names:
Alex, Ashley, Bailey, Beverly, Charlie/Charley, Chris, Frankie, Georgie, Harper, Jamie, Jordan, Kerry/Kelly, Kim, Lee, Leslie/Lesley, Mackenzie, Morgan, Reese/Rhys, Rowan, Sam, Sacha, Sandy, Stevie, Taylor, Vivien.

Or made up names, colours, foreign words, place names ...... Etc

@Shivermetim - how old are your axies? They don't look fully grown yet. If they are under 12 months you can still get late blooming boys.

And beautiful axolotl ladygodiva32

Thanks. I'd love a wild type axolotl but I already have 2 in a 20 gallon and it's hard for me to clean out anything larger than that. I'm 4'11 and 86 lbs and I'm such a wimp! My husband offers to help but I'm so picky about anyone cleaning my tank since it's MY way or no way. I'm over protective. lol

I'm stuck with a male called Galadriel. Blame my wife. I wanted to call him Snowball when he was a tadpole.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
