2 months ago I got two little axolotls that were about 5cm, but I already had one with 16cm so I had to put them apart, I used a fence. Yesterday I got home and the fence wasn't on the same place and one of the babies was gone. The one that survived is injured and it's getting worse. He's now in another aquarium but as his wound is getting worse I'm afraid he won't make it. Should I do something or he's just gonna heal by himself? Please please help, I don't wanna lose another one.
He was like this yesterday (Instagram), he's tail is still like that but he's getting a bump on his body (sorry I really couldnt get a better picture)

The only thing I can recommend is what I've read; cooler water and lots of earthworms. I'm sorry that this happened and hope your little axolotl good luck in recovery. Hopefully someone with better advice will reply soon.

I'm sorry for your loss. He should be able to heal with the proper environment and time but my suggestion to you and anyone else who uses the divider method is that unless the divider is secured down really well it's not the safest option. If there isn't room for another tank then I recommend getting a large breeding box that hangs on the tank (if it has a cover even better) this is much safer.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
