Hi everyone! I am a new member from SC. I have been reading here, off and on, for a few months. I don't currently have any "critters" that are discussed on this forum, but will very soon!! I have kept fish since I was eight years old, about 35 years. I have also kept many reptiles and amphibians. My first was African clawed frogs when I was about 10.. A few years ago, my daughter and I successfully bred and reared about 60 Fire Belly Toads.

Now, I'm dying for some Axolotls!!! I have been researching and reading about them for months now!! I have some larger empty tanks, and that is not acceptable!!!! They must have some new life in them soon!! LOL

I have already started collecting my "stuff" for my Axolotl tank, and I have already started cycling the quarantine tanks for them. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Glad to be a part of your community!!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
