Decided to stop watching from the side lines and join in on the game. Became fascinated with Axolotls and fell in love with them when I realized I could actually own them. I hail from the farthest southwest corner in Texas at El Paso. It is genuinely HOT almost all year here so keeping the Axo cool is gonna be a challenge here but I believe I have found a way that has been working so far lol. I havent gotten one yet as im still waiting for the tank to cycle and giving the plants a chance to grow while I wait. I am looking for specific types of Axos so if there ever comes a time when some happens to be selling them I would be very interested in talking to you about them. That would be the axanthic albino and leucistic axolotl

Hello and welcome to the forum, my name is Seth. Good luck in your endeavor to keeping axolotls!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
