Hello,

I have my first axolotl (a small albino GFP) arriving in the mail tomorrow from another member on here, and I realized I had a question to which I have yet to find an answer. What is proper procedure for introducing a new axolotl to their tank? Is it the same as fish or is there a different method? I searched the forum but I can't find anything (I always feel like I have to say that when I ask a question because I know I can't be the first to ask it). Thanks in advance!

The same procedure as with fish works. You just want to avoid any sudden changes in temperature and water parameters.

Awesome. I figured it couldn't be too different but having confirmation is always nice, especially since this is my first axie.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
