How long do antibiotics take to work in an axolotl?

What are you using, did you consult a vet, and what is it for?

Hi my axolotl was floating a little. I posted a photo and you thought it looked bloated so I took him to a vet last night and was given baytril 2.5% oral I have to put him in a tub with it in his water for 5 hours a day. He wasn't eating either and hadn't for 9 days he hasn't pooped either. The vet had a good look at him and said there was a little mass by his back end that he wasn't happy about and some reddening on the underside of his tail I have to phone him on Friday to tell him how he is going and he will decide if he is going to give him an ultrasound just wondered how soon I might see an improvement if I was going to.thanks again fir all your help .

Antibiotics usually start to work in 2 or 3 days. Good luck, I hope you get him sorted.

Thankyou I hope he gets better soon to .

Depending on the situation it can take up to a week to see really visible signs of improvement. So are you administering this orally?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
