Hello. I recently bred my female melanoid to my male albino. They have bred in the past, but this time when she’s spawning she looks pale and puss is coming out. It’s white like the spermatophore, I’m worried about her. She is eating and acting pretty normal but I am concerned. This has not happened before and I am still new to spawning. I though she was dead when I came in and saw this. Could it be that she just picked up a new spermatophore and it is hanging out? She looked so pale and gray, not black, that I thought she’s died. I am removing the male ASAP, she does not need to breed more. Any advice is helpful.

How many times have you bred her? Could you share any pictures?

I am not a genius when it comes to axolotl breeding, but I can give some input!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
