Charles, the $$ goes to help keep this site open. Having this forum and stuff costs John money. It's donations that keep the site up, running, and advertisement free.

The donations list is current as of this message's date and time. If your donation does not appear on that list, please contact me and I'll track it down (it's always a clerical mistake made by me). Thank you to everyone who donated and those who continue to donate. The usual culprits who donate so much money so regularly are either rich or have become addicted to the site!

I would like to remind anyone who donates by Paypal that the email you receive from Paypal after making the donation is your receipt for the donation. If you receive that receipt, it means I have received your donation.

I've changed the process of donating slightly - after you donate, you'll be redirected to a donations thank you page that explains the details of receipts and what happens after you donate. You can view this page here:
http://www.caudata.org/donor_thank.shtml

Let me whole-heartedly apologise to Hector Fabregas Rebato: Sir, your donation on January 2nd 2006 was not lost, I simply overlooked it by mistake. I hope the issue now stands resolved and I thank you for your second donation a few days ago and for bringing this to my attention. I have also sent you an email.

Finally, I would ask that people remember that this site is something I do in some of my spare time. If I don't acknowledge you immediately after a donation, or you don't get your donor status within a day or two, please have patience. The things I (and the moderators) do on this site are voluntary work.

Send me an email and I can make it anonymous. You're a donor so you should get your status (I didn't give it to you because I did not know who donated your donation).

I find it interesting that there have been no donations for 13 days. I'm very pleasantly surprised with the amount received so far this year (it's staggering) but reliability/consistency is more reassuring than feast and famine.

John,
I'd like to donate but don't use paypal. Is there any way I can send a personal check instead? If so, where would I send it to?

How's the budget going? I know their was a big push for the upgrade. Are contributions continuing at a decent rate?

We're not poor but after the last update to the list above, I believe I've received only 2 (maybe 3?) donations, both of which were quite small. I haven't cleared those out yet (sorry to the donors - my lame excuse is that my life's been on hold for the last 3 weeks due to being a 24/7 tour guide for my parents who have been visiting).

I've no cause to complain about the donation level so far this year but while getting a lot of money in a few months is awesome, I'd much prefer getting lower donations consistently.

I'm thinking of making a subscription option(s) - for example, pay $25 quarterly or something. What do you think?

I think donations have not been suggested enough. It seems like people come through when their is a crunch. A subscription option is a good idea. I know some of us easily give 25.00 a quarter but it seems a little high for students.

Updated the list from Jeff Fenn in June to Jessica Mosier in July. There are 4 other donations (all very tiny amounts) that did not include any acknowledgement of the terms on the donations page and these will be refunded within the next 3 days if no response is received to my email requesting their agreement.

This list is current as of September 10th 2006. Anyone not already having donor status who has been added to the list will also receive it within the next few minutes (assuming I can find your account).

Thank you to everyone has donated.

A note on donations. Well, the attempts at fraud continue despite the fact that I clamped down with a policy and restricted ability to donate (you can only do so through the donations page). I've avoided 3-4 since my clamp down but I think someone slipped through the cracks recently. It's still beyond my comprehension why some donations are fraudulent (what on earth does anyone gain by doing that?). Any thoughts are welcome because I'm still stumped.
