Salamander rubbing its head against the glas

My T. Verrucosus is acting very active and he's rubbing his head against the glass. He looks like he doesn't feel good when he's doing that.. What could it be? I thought maybe he's about to shed his skin and is trying to tear it, but I want to make sure he's not sick or something..

if hes anything like my c e popei -it is cause hes trying to shed. he will tip his head low and just lean into the side of his box and almost look as if hes having a spasm my solution was to soak him so that the skin would loosen, he seemed to get the skin as far as his shoulder then stopped-so i peeled it up a bit (it had been like that a whole day) and he was able to get the rest off with the additional soaking.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
