some pics of B.major hunting termites. I couldn't quite get a pic of the tongue extended-just before (with mouth open) and after..........

Anyone else got shots of their Batrachoseps?

Thanks, I've been wanting to see them eat for a long time, but haven't gotten around to spending the time on it myself.
They're so small, it seemed it would be a bit of a challenge to pull off.
Way to go!

Batrachoseps major... these photos may find their way over to Caudata Culture, if you don't mind, Erik. We have none of this species.

cool pics!!
i just caught something on Animal Planet "Spy on the Wild" and they showed a salamander shoot it's tongue and explained how it's stomach muscles help it shoot, unfortunately they didn't specify the species

did some googling found some videos showing a couple different species feeding

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
