Daphnia crash.... Help

I had a daphnia crash literally. I dont currenty have any eggs but I would like to get my culture up and running again.

Where can I get a decent daphnia culture to start up again?
 
A pond near you... bring a bucket and scoop net and in no time you're up and running again:>>

Thank you... I will make plans to get up to the bass ponds this weekend.
 
You will probably still have hundreds of unhatched and healthy cysts in your culture. If you have substrate then carefully syphon out the water and add fresh and new ones will hatch. If you have no substrate then slowly filter the water through a coffee filter paper cone, add the filter paper to your culture with fresh water and you should be back in business soon!
 
Look closely and see if you have a few survivors. Also, look for black seed-like things, which usually stick to the sides of the container around the waterline... those are daphnia cysts which will hatch out once the water conditions are right. If all else fails, there are many commercial sources of daphnia.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
