For those of you worried that you are too late to enter, I have good news - Mark has told me he will accept any entry made between now and when he checks his email on October 1st. Knowing him that's probably about 7 am British time (that's 2 am Eastern US time), so here's your chance - that's only 7 hours from now.

This competition is now closed. Thanks very much to all the entrants.

I've made some contest judging spots available to site contributors and donors in the donor section of the forum. If you're interested in helping to judge, get over there and post your name in the thread. Only taking the first 10 people to respond there.

I'm also giving 5 spots to normal registered users. Just reply to this thread if you want to help judge the photo competition - first 5 people on a first come-first served basis. Can't say fairer than that.

Just to let everyone know that the votes have been counted and the results are in (thank you Mark Aartse-Tuyn for organising everything, thank you everyone who voted, and thank you to the entrants). I will announce the winners later in the week but definitely by the weekend. I am hoping to have the calendar available within 48 hours of announcing the winners (and hopefully the magazine too - I'm formatting it at the moment). Winners will receive a year's donation status and full credit in the calendar.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
