Question: Chicken for axys???

Hey not sure if anyone has asked this yet but is cooked chicken ok to feed to axolotls? Someone I know said he feeds his chicken and they love it and I guess since its a lean meat fat wouldnt be a problem. I would love to see if mine would eat it but id rather check its safe first. Thanks :)
 
What share my chicken with the axie:eek:....not a chance:D
I think it might be ok for a treat but not all the time(never heard of it sorry)......they get everything they need in a nice wiggly package already.....earthworms
 
Ive heard that axies have a hard time digesting the proteins in chicken and beef, but Ive never done it.
Let us know :)
 
I would not. They are small salamanders and eat whole prey - not small parts of large land mammals.

When there are so many good options, I wouldn't risk my animals life with chicken. :/
 
lean meat like chicket heart is ok occasionally, for example, if worms or good quality food is for some reason unavailable, In my oppinion, but if you use it ongoing, you'll run into severe problems that will lead to death.
 
A piece of cooked chicken breast fed once a month isn't going to hurt your axolotl. It would be better to feed them a piece of fish. I feed mine fish every time I eat fish myself.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
