My lotl had a fungus infection that seemed uncurable but it has eventually died down leaving a wound behind on his head, he hasn't eaten in weeks and then one morning there was lots of fleshy substance in the tub I've been keeping him in. There was what looked like a trial of fungus floating from his mouth and when I removed it blood poured from the side of his head, he's bled twice. I'm scared there's nothing more I can do as he's refusing good, do I put him out of his misery? I've not given any more salt baths as the external fungus seems gone now but I'm worried it's inside him. Please help.

Can you attach photos please? It may need the help of a vet so look around for someone experienced with caudates.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
