What is a good live food?

Ive been trying to make my axolotls lives more natural, live plants, drift wood etc. but i would really love it (& im sure they will to!) if there was something for them to actually catch when they roam around hunting :D they LOVE worms and the occasional cricket so i was thinking if i got shrimp and had them in the tank that would be great for them? they could hunt and eat when they please as well as the shrimp will help me keep my tank clean! ? but what ones do i get?? theres so many! cherry shrimp and glass shrimp look like they might be the best option but im wanting a more professional opinion ? also if you know of any other "live foods" that can live in the tank please let me know :p
 
I think I've read posts about people putting those small shrimp in their tanks and their quickly disappearing, so those might work.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
