I now have 3 chinese fire bellied newts
2 of which ive have only owned for about 4 months
and 1 for about 2 years
the oldest newt i have, has never ever liked the water in the tank
but the 2 new ones for about 2 months loved the water infact spent every moment in the water
and ate like crazy
now all 3 of them lay on land and do absolutely nothing
and barely eat i have changed the water several times and they seem to still dislike it
please help

Re: problems with water again

Does sound like water quality problems.

Have you tested your water? What temperature is it?

This is in completely the wrong part of the forum. I've moved it to the help section.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
