Hiya,
My two axies Moxie and Xenie have been with us about a month now. Xenie stuffs himself but Moxie has proved a far more reluctant feeder. He hasn't eaten in two days now, I usually feed by hand but have resorted to putting food in the tank today. He just hasn't touched it. I've tried bloodworms, earthworms (live), liver, heart and even fine slices of white bait today. Occasionally he sucks something in but then just spits it back out again. The water quality is fine, the pump is acting normally and Xenie stuffs himself but I am so worried about Moxie. Please help if you can, I'm desperately worried he is suffering :( Many thanks.

2days? That's not very long tbh, I'm sure yours are fine, as long as she's acting normal I wouldn't worry to much.

I bought mine 3weeks ago tomorrow, for the first 2weeks Mia (my white female) only actually ate twice and her parter like yours stuffed himself everyday.

She has also laid eggs so I'm putting her not eating down to that.

:)

Hiya,
Thanks for reassuring me. Moxie is now stuffing himself so I'm pretty sure it was just a fluke! Phew! Many thanks!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
