Hi everyone, I have some tough about my Leucistic Axolotl girl. In the last week she has a swallowen cloaca, in the first time I have tough that she was about to hatch, but nothing appened, and now, somethimes she lies down to the cloaca reagion and in an hour coming back to the normal behaviour.

She is a leucistic adult, she has developed her “black thumbs” at february and now she is about 17 cm long. She live in a thank with a wild type adult male in a filtered 100 L tank, 1 meter long with extrafine sand and living acquatic plants...

Can anyone help? Is it normal? Thank you for your attention. Here are some photos:

Are you shure? So, maybe it has developed later? Is it possible? ?

How old is that axie, hitting that one year mark? Looks male to me lol

Thank for your reply
I think she/he has about one year, she/he had no cloaca bump in march, but had the black fingertips, now in May (after two months) she/he has developed the bump  I’m a little bit confused, how this is possible?

Woah that’s incredibile :D
So aven if an Axolotl has changed his fingertips before the year, that no means he have shoed his goods right? What a discover!

So we have a beautiful leucistic little boy at home ! And he is fine ??

The finger tips changing has nothing to do with maturity.

She yep, that's a male ?

So, thank you all for your precious help and time. I’m happy that he is fine and has no problem ?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
