Once again I am like a kid in the candy store with this hobby.

As far back as I can remember, I have ALWAYS been fond of bugs.

In the summer it was an enjoyable moment to catch ants.

I would get my glass jar with a metal lid.

Start punching holes in the lid.

I would then put the ants in a jar with a couple blades of grass.

Next I would sit for hours staring at my collection.

Granted, I did not get permission from my parents to bring insects in the house.

I have been working with my fruit flies.

I began an experiment on 6/21/111.

i took a regular fruit fly culture.

I got a clean culture container and lid.

I added Josh's media and some water.

I then added 2 natural herbal ingredients.

The culture was topped with a lid

This container sat overnight.

The next day I added excelsior.

Then melanogaster flies were then introduced to the container.

The herbs enhances libido in men.

It increases the number of egg production in females.

It is also works in other areas regarding reproduction.

These herbs cannot be found easily.

I had to get my ingredients from over in India.

I have read experiments of these ingredients used on different animals.

The proof is in the pudding.

The results are astonishing

The fruit fly culture that was setup on 6/21/11 has shown remarkable results.

Today is 6/30/11.

The culture is now bursting with maggots.

This same culture was producing well way before today.

I noticed an increase in number on 6/25/11

(see attached photos)

I have taken pictures of all 4 sides of the container.

I did not take pictures of the the media.

The media has maggots waiting in line for an empty space.

I am also trying this same experiment on my hydei and wild caught fruit flies.

So in actuality I am gut loading these flies with a herbal enhancement.

The results will be documented in this thread.

NOTE:

I am not inclined to give out the name of the ingredients at this time.

My trials are still in the early stages.

well, hurrah :)

I have fruit fly cultures with Josh's frogs' medium as well. I must say mine are reproducing so well I wouldn't need the addition of a secret aphrodisiac ingredient from India - I hardly know what to do with all the flies as it is.

Still...interetsing. Have you set up some control cultures without the secret herb? The only way to tell whether it has any effect would be a comparison to non-enhanced cultures in terms of developmental time and fly numbers...

lol. I hope it's not ground-up tiger gonads or something :D

Actually I made this post in error.

I am active on more than one forum.

At any rate Molch......this thread is not to see who has the most flies.

This is not my concern.

If you are not trying to contribute to my threads please keep your negative comments to yourself.

I am beginning to think you are harassing me.:(

My intention was to gutload the flies to feed to egg laying chameleons.

The ingredients should cause the chameleons to lay more eggs and as a result of the ingredients will produce a slightly larger and healthier hatchling.

Like I said wrong forum.

uh oh - I'm truly sorry. If anything I said came across as negative or - heaven forbid - "harassing", I sincerely apologize. That was absolutely not my intention. (insert self-flagellation emoticon) :)

I misunderstood - I thought you were trying to enhance the fruit flies' libido with your ingredients, and I thought that was quite interesting...
