Concerning Curled Tail

Hi. I have two Axolotls that are currently stressed. I bought a 55 gallon fish tank from someone, and little did I expect that I should’ve deep cleaned the tank because it was saltwater. It was my bad, as I didn’t think it would be a problem. I emptied the tank and cleaned it with white vinegar and the water parameter went from the 8 on ph to 7. I used prime to detoxify the ammonia, it’s at .25. They have eaten a little, but not a lot. They deny food a lot over the past few days and have very curled tips of their tails. I was just wondering if their stress will gradually go down, and if their appetite will increase and tail curling decrease gradually, or if it is supposed to happen immediately.

Is the tank cycled? Do you have pics of the tail?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
