Exclamation Fungal Infection! Please help!

My newt is about 5-6 in. long with a .5-1 inch long fluffy white spot on its tail. I tried to look up how to deal with this, but I could find only frustrating broadness. I put it in a covered container in the fridge at 42 degrees fahrenheight. But how are salt baths done? Please respond! I don't know why these guys are causing me so much trouble!

6g of salt to a litre of water. Leave the Newt in there for about 15mins.

He is now almost immobile: he cannot move his tail and barely move his torso. I have had him in the fridge all day, gave him a salt bath as instructed, and put him back in.
