Hi all right those of you who read my previous postings on HYLA ARBOREA here is an update they are now getting front legs and starting to leave the water, I found keeping them under U/V tubes I had no tadpole deformities, a spot light directed onto the surface of the water gave the taddies chance to bask under a warm spot and they gathered in large numbers under the light. Feeding I used four types of food, flake fish food, catfish sinker pellets koi pond sticks and Hinari floating carnivore food, as they get larger and show signs of front limbs feed on flake only as they consume vast amounts in a short space of time and it doesn't pollute the water as bad ,plus they seem to really fatten up so when they become froglets they are fairly large and it makes rearing them easier hope this helps

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
