Advice please:)

I would say no. Babies/young juveniles are the most cannibalistic and aggressive, and as your axies haven't been living together from when you got them they would be likely to take chunks out of each other, especially if one is larger than the other. If you can, please try to wait until they are adults as they will settle down and become more docile.

Pro tip: the larger the tank, the lower the likelihood that they will fight one another. Also please if possible try to introduce both of them to a new tank together rather than adding one to the others tank, as the current occupant will be more inclined to think it as their 'territory' and be aggressive.

Depends on the size of the tank. I probably wouldn't. Even if they're the same size they can still bite off hands!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
