I have two adult Axolotls that I've had for more than 3 years. I've come to realize I just no longer have the time to dedicate to them and care for them. The issue is I was unaware it's now illegal to own them in Virginia so I'm not sure how I'm going to re-home them. Does anybody have any idea what options I have? I really don't feel comfortable shipping them anywhere either.

Unless you ship them i don't know how you will rehome them since there is a state issue.

Any chance they're still available? I may be able to take them off your hands. I live in VA but am moving to Indiana soon.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
