Well all my babies have hatched now! I have 27 ? (sadly lost 4)
If anyone can hazard a guess at what colours my little lovelies are likely to be that would be awesome because I’ve no real clue as this is all super new to me!

I’ve attempted to attach some pics of a few of them ?

Congrats on the hatchlings! What are your plans for them? 27 is a lot!

My best guess for the colors are variations of the wild type :)

So cute! Congrats! Does one of them in that picture have colorless eyes or is the light playing tricks on me?

Oh lovely, congratulations! What morphs are the parents?
The one with the light reflective eyes may be copper or wild, the first pic kind of looks like a speckled leucy but may be wild. The ones with the dark eyes, are the eyes reflective or just black? Easier to tell as they get bigger, but they are super cute!

Thanx guys ? they are all so cute! I’ve managed to find homes for about half of them when they are bigger so not looking too bad so far.

Yeah the little light coloured guy has white/see through eyes there were 4 others like him but they were sadly the ones who didn’t survive ?

The parents, daddy is wild type (a super dark one because I just thought he was black at first) and the mammy is a leucistic? A one of the white/pinky ones (I’m still learning names)

I’m going to find it so hard to decide which ones we keep ?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
