Those are some very healthy acrobatic newts. I think they are posing for the Pleurodeles version of the kama sutra.;)
 
I was going through old posts looking for links on mating. I am new to p. waltl and was recently basically given two. They are not sexed but I noticed this behavior between my two earlier today. It may seem like a stupid question, but looking at your first picture, could you please tell me which is the male and which is the female? I have tried to research it but I can't find concrete answers. Thanks so much!
 
The male is always on the bottom with this species. The male also has the bigger arms and the bigger tail.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
