i'm making something similar in your situation. i work at an aluminum metal extrusion company, and i am able to make stuff when i get free time. this piece of metal has 3 layers in it so i can drill a hole through the layers. put a wall on the first and second layer, cap the ends off by welding them in to make sure its watertight. now all i have to do is get some hose attachments fitted on. i finished prepping the mini fridge already. i failed the last 2 times, by drilling in through the side of the fridges when i should have just went through the door at the very beginning

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
