Last night was very wet and fairly mild here, nightcrawlers were out...and the salamander games 2013 began. Or were first observed this year. Four animals out of my five were busy running around the tank and there was some wrestling in the dish. It is mostly covered with a piece of cork bark so unfortunately I couldn't see well but there definitely was some action. I wonder if two males could have been fighting over a potential egg-laying site. Unfortunately they must have noticed me after a short while and ceased all activities, when I went to check later, they were still in a frozen mode. Their general rubbishness as pets really makes me appreciate these brief moments
