Hi everyone. This is Colin - my very first Axolotl.

I'm not actually sure of the sex at the moment... lol, though I'll probably stick with Colin regardless.
He has black freckles on his face, and some along the top of his tail.
I got a discount as he's got a couple of stumpy arms, which will grow back soon I'm sure.

Will post more pics soon, and possibly a video or two.

Aw! Very cute. Love his "freckles" and his gills look nice and fluffy. How big is he?
Can't wait to see more photos! :D

Thanks! He's about 6 Inches... only a lil guy at the moment. I hope his gills stay nice and fluffy! Anyone know what conditions make the difference between average gills, to feathery plumes?
Cheers :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
