I love the second picture, with the little white guy sticking his head out. Very cute. Your axies look really nice! :)

love the coconut shell pic.
thats same pair i have a wild type & a lucs.. lush.. lusc.... white 1

I like the 4th picture where he/she looks like he/she's going to get you :D.

Well spotted Elspeth.

The sand type substrate in the lower most photo is fine, however the white and black pea sized gravel is definitely a risk for impaction. It is best to switch to the sand substrate or keep the tank bare bottomed.

Great pics! I have been searching for a green wild type for ages...lucky you! ;)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
