Default Juvenile Leucistic Axolotls and Sharp-ribbed Salamander for adoption

Grace's Rest - Lincolnshire Exotics Advice, Education and Rescue Service currently have seven juvenile Leucistic Axolotls and a single Sharp-ribbed Salamander for adoption. Please find below the relevant details...

Leucistic Axolotls (seven individuals)
Captive Bred 2012
Unsexed
Approximately eleven months old
Approximately four to six inches long (growing on well)
Eating a variety of frozen aquatic food
Poop readily
Very healthy despite minor healed injuries

These little guys came to Grace's Rest at the beginning of July 2013. They were the remainder of an unexpected spawning that began to hatch on Christmas Eve 2012. Their previous owners were very successful in raising the hundreds of resulting young but due to the shear numbers struggled to find homes for all of them.

Due to the Grace's Rest "non-breeding" policy and the fact that it can be notoriously difficult to determine sex in juveniles of this species, this batch of axolotls will only be rehomed singularly and/or where they will be housed solo to avoid any more unplanned spawning.

Toothless - Sharp-ribbed Salamander
Presumed Captive Bred - unknown date
Sex unknown
Adult - exact age unknown
Eating frozen bloodworm and other frozen tropical fish foods
Poops readily
Sheds well
Parasite free (as far as is possible to tell)

Toothless arrived at Grace's Rest at the beginning of August 2013. He had previously been in the care of another rescue service who had struggled to place him in a suitable home due to his specialist requirements.

Toothless will require an owner familiar in the care of amphibians and preferable sharp-ribbed salamanders specifically.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone would like to make an expression of interest in either the axolotls or Toothless the Sharp-ribbed Salamander please do get in touch. Grace's Rest do not charge a set fee for our rehome animals, instead we ask for a voluntary donation towards the continued operation of this strictly non-profit service. Further information including photographs of both species may be found via our website and Facebook page (linked below) or if you have any specific questions, please drop me a message via Caudata.org.

The week commencing 25th November will be the last week prior to 1st February 2014 to express an interest and adopt an animal from Grace's Rest. This policy has been implemented in an attempt to avoid animals unintentionally being rehomed as Christmas gifts.

We hope that our supporters will understand the reasons for this decision. Grace's Rest will still be open for admissions during December and January and we will still be accepting expressions of interest during this time.

Adoption of these guys is now on hold until February 1st 2014 (please see above post for details).

Expressions of interest will still be taken during this time and successful candidates can have animals reserved until adoptions are resumed next year.

Grace's Rest will still be open to admissions of rescue animals during the festive period.

Surely someone could offer these guys a loving new home for life? All seven Axolotls are still available and so is "Toothless" the Sharp-ribbed Salamander. The Axolotls are growing fast but are still just as cute and I'm sure "Toothless" would love to come home with you if you could offer him plenty of bloodworms!

Although all adoptions are suspended until February 1st 2014 expressions of interest and reservations are still being taken.

Such beautiful leucistic babies! I would rehome one if only I had the room (I have two axolotls already and their tank takes up all available plug sockets and drawertop space). Would you like me to inform people looking for Leucy axxies that these are available? I thought it better to get permission than assume.

Toothless may be more specific but I'm sure there's an experienced keeper of Sharp Ribbed Salamanders on here somewhere looking for a new friend. It would be so lovely to see any of these wonderful animals rehomed!

Hi there Petersgirl,

Many thanks for the offer of spreading the word regarding the Axolotls and Sharp-ribbed Salamander that we currently have available for adoption. Please feel free to pass on our website and Facebook page details to anyone that may be interested in adopting them.

Grace's Rest

All adoptions will be realised as of 1st February and the usual Grace's Rest "Adoption Agreement" conditions will apply (details available on request). The quickest way to get a reply to any enquiries is to send and email or message through the links above.

Finger's crossed that we will hear from lots of potential new adopters soon :-)
