As you know.. I have three Orientalis.. Two of them are fat and happy(females I think) while the smaller male is somewhat sickly acting, refuses to eat, and has a small gash on his leg(I think that one of the Paddle Tails that the petstore had him in with took a bite out, and I didn't notice it until I got him home). What should I do?

isolate him and treat that leg before it becomes sestemic-(better to err on the side of caution than suffer the consequences of inaction)-he probably wont eat till he feels better and the females may be pushy eaters and intimidate him in his weak condition. try to offer him slower more interesting/less aggressive food than crickets (or put his crickets in the fridge to cool them down) a cricket that is molting is also slow and less hard to eat.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
