Dusted earth worms only?

i have on numerous occasions "forced" my newts to live underwater by leaving them with little or no land, they will embrace this and begin feeding on bloodworms normally, but eventually always go back to land when they have the choice, the water is super fine, perfect in fact, there is a filter but its not that strong, when on land i can only feed them earth worm segments dusted with amphibian vitamins, will fire bellies be healthy living only on vitamin dusted earth worms? I'd rather they went in the water a bit, but theyre generally happy

I think earth worm without being dust is already good food item. In fact, I think most people will agree that earthworm is more nutritious than frozen blood worm. But I guess in Britain, there are live blood worm available.

Earthworms are a perfectly good staple diet. If you want to broaden their diet, you could try feeding them other foods offered on a toothpick or tweezers. CFB seem to be pretty adaptable to living in water or on land. Once they have been on land for a while, their skin changes, and they aren't really willing to go in the water.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
