Live blackworms are fed to axolotl larvae, so assume so. Are you able to get earthworms as well at all, try garden centre or Bunnings they may be able to find a place that does them or baitshop, if your garden is too dry to get them from.

Blackworms are a bit small for a full-grown axie, but it will definately eat them.

The photo you use as your avatar shows an axie on gravel, which could be ingested during feeding. If this is your setup, then I would recommend NOT using blackworms. They will dig into the gravel and this will tend to make your axie go crazy eating gravel trying to get at the blackworms. Blackworms aside, you may want to consider changing to a different gravel to prevent ingestion.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
