NatGeo VideoGiant Salamanders Helped to Spawn

That's a great story. Hopefully this modification to the canals will serve their purpose. I hope the giant salamanders traverse the steps easily enough to make it worthwhile.

They are my favorite species of cryptobranchid...the two here at th zoo in Omaha are improperly housed, but they are amazing to observe. The largest is a cool four feet long and easily weighs 75 lbs.

If I ever win the lottery, these will be one of the headline species in the endangered caudate breeding compound of my dreams.

I believe I saw a video somewhere of these giants being housed in a zoo in the US that was successfully breeding them. Maybe I saw that on here? It was a fantastic stream enclosure.

Anyways...these giants are spectacular. I love their prehistoric features.

That is awesome. good for japan. :) I like Cryptobranchids too.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
