Hello, everyone, my name is Jenny!
I'm new to Caudata but not new to forums! I'm actually on a couple fish forums haha! Fish are my forte but I love every creature (especially the "ugly" and strange ones).
Currently, I own 4 large fish, 2 leopard geckos, and now a salamander!
So I recently acquired a baby Ensatina from a reptile expo! He's only been with us for 4 weeks but I love him so much already! He's very active, curious, and growing bigger every day!
I've owned other amphibians but never a salamander. Needless to say, after we got him I spent 3 sleepless nights researching everything. I've found Caudata to be a very helpful site for me so far! I'm sure you'll see me post pictures or ask the occasional questions!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
